"The grass withers and the flowers fall...."

"The grass withers and the flowers fall...."

As the trees, bushes and flowers bring forth there beauty during this time here in Switzerland I am reminded of this verse of Scripture;

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever."
1 Peter 1: 23-25

Recently, we have had several native Swiss speakers comment that they have noticed we are speaking more and more French! We are very encouraged by this and that they are sharing their excitement for us as we continue to learn. We are very grateful for so many that are helping us greatly in our everyday life here to listen to and speak French with.

During the past several months of our French language studies, it's been incredible to take note; As we are writing something in English we are also in our minds thinking of the words in French to write as well. The other would be, that we have noticed (this has happened every now and again) one of us will be writing something or we will be talking about something (in English) and then.....we have totally forgotten a particular word we would like to use in ENGLISH! It is something we certainly did not expect to happen, but we have spoken to other French language students and they to have experienced the same!

One of my favorite Scripture verses....

"Je suis le chemin et la verite et la vie. Personne ne va au Pere si ce n'est par moi". Jean 14:6
A couple of days ago as I was browsing through a Christian book store in Neuchatel, I happen to see this beautiful little bookmark. On this little beautiful bookmark, one of my favorite Scripture verses...John 14:6. Needless to say for only 1 Franc (which is like $1.00 US) I decided to purchase it. Normally, in written French there would be accent marks over a couple of vowels with in the verse written above (over the first and second "e" in the word; verite and also over the first "e" in the word; Pere). These accent marks help clue you in as to how the word should be pronounced. However, at this time we do not have our computer set up with accent marks just yet.

Yesterday, was our second evaluation since we arrived in Januaury 2008 on how we are progressing through our French language studies here in Switzerland. Our French Language Coordinator said that she is very pleased with our progress and we are moving along nicely and at a good pace, considering we arrived here with very little French language training prior to arriving here. It has also been really encouraging for us as well that the native French speakers who we know are noticing our progress.
We thank you and are very grateful for all of your many faithful prayers especially concerning our language studies ~ we appreciate your on going prayers for us!

Reminds us of home....

Reminds us of home...
Recently, we had returned home from school to have the opportunity to watch as a local farmer who was very busy tending to his fields. This particular field is only 100 feet from our living room / dining area windows. We were able to appreciate each and every step having such a great view. As you can imagine.....this reminds us so much of our surroundings when we lived in Cabot, PA.!
