Hiking around Creux-du-Van......

It was about 8 weeks ago now that I had the opportunity to go with some people from our Church to go on a hike in an area called the Ceux-du-Van. After the worship service, 6 of us took the train from Neuchatel for a short 20 minute trip to a small town near the base of the Creux-du-Van.

We were blessed with a beautiful day for hiking around this area which looks like a very large horse show in shape. We we hiking across the top when we came upon this mountain goat in the picture above. In French a mountain goat is referred to as a "chamois". It was amazing to watch him scamper both up and down the very steep and rocky area we were in!

We hiked for approximately 2 hours before we stopped for a wonderful picnic lunch complete with "bread, cheese, and chocolate, the three important food items eaten here. The food was great and the view was spectacular.

We then took another 2 hours or so to hike the rest of the way around the Creux-du-Van...and then we climbed back down to catch a train back home.

I certainly was blessed to have enjoyed such a wonderful day with great Suisse friends while being surrounded with God's splendor.

Les Fleurs ( The Flowers )

Les Fleurs
(The Flowers)
This is one of my favorite stores that is in the train station that we get to see each day. I really enjoy how the floweral shop displays all the many various flowers and plants. While we wait to take our train back home each day, I enjoy taking time to admire them. Most often this little floweral shop is streaming with people waiting to purchase their flowers. The floweral bouquets that are made here are absolutly beautiful and I have watched how they take such care in arranging them.

~ Greeting Cards ~

~ Greeting Cards ~
The art of greeting card making ~ one afternoon during our 5 months of training in North Carolina we had the opportunity to learn how to create greeting cards. We had a whole lot of fun designing and making cards!
Before we left this past January to study French in Switzerland, we had stocked up on plenty of card stock, decorative paper, art/craft scissors and double sided adhesive squares to create our greeting cards.
We knew prior to leaving the US that when we reached Africa greeting cards are not something that is easily found there ~ so we planned ahead to making our own greeting cards.
Each greeting card we make is with our love and own personal touches!
We are so grateful that we had prepared ahead, since buying a greeting card in Switzerland cost $5.00 each and then $1.90 to mail them to the US. Yikes!

Is it Wednesday?

Is it Wednesday?
Recently, we have been asked if we have made language mistakes when speaking French yet? The answer to that question...."YES"! I was fortunate in that I made my first language mistake with in our classroom. During our class each day we all are given turns at reading our text book out loud. Well, the one day as I was reading along the text out loud, the sentence was speaking about an event that was taking place on a "Mercredi" (in French that means Wednesday). Instead of saying "Mercredi" I had read the word as "Mercedes" (as in Mercedes Benz)!! We all had a great laugh at that!
